Numerical and Experimental Results of Auxiliary Bearings Testing on a High Speed Test Rig

A test stand including a rotor and active magnetic bearing system, located at Waukesha Magnetic Bearing premises was utilized in 2013 to validate a new auxiliary bearing design. This paper provides an overview of the preparatory activities and an insight on the numerical and experimental results obtained during the testing campaign.
