Trajectory Tracking for a Magnetically Levitated Shaft with Three-Phase AMBs in Y -Connection
High precision tool path tracking with magnetically supported spindles is considered. If radial bearings with three phases in Y -connection are used standard commercial power electronics can be employed. However, only two independent currents are available then. It is shown how this problem can be overcome. Experimental results show that the tracking precision obtained with Y-connected coils is similar to the one obtained with three independent coils.
